TACHS PROGRAM

The Test for Admission into Catholic High Schools (TACHS) is a standardized entrance exam used by Catholic high schools in the New York City area to assess students for admission and placement. TACHS Exam Overview 

Purpose of the exam  

  • Used by Catholic high schools in the NYC area for admissions

  • Helps schools evaluate academic readiness for high school

  • May be used for placement and scholarship decisions

  • Provides a standardized way to compare applicants

  • Helps identify students suited for advanced or honors programs

Exam Structure 

  • Multiple-choice format

  • Four sections: Reading, Language, Mathematics, and Ability

  • Timed sections taken in one testing session

  • Administered annually to 8th-grade students

  • No penalty for guessing
